Day 2: Books, Books, Books

Foal's BreadThe Distant HoursKitchen Coquette
Hi everyone, sorry for the technical glitch - post was momentarily lost in the ether. Day 2 is Books, books books. Books for your coffee table, books for your cookbook collection and reads for the bath, the beach, your favourite chair and more. BUT before you hit comment - one wee task. What is your favourite thing about a book? Is it the smell of books, the weight in your hands, the cover design, the font, the paper, seeing a cracked spine from overuse? Let us know to win. Good luck!!

  1. It's definitely the anticipation of opening a book for the first time, getting that new book scent and knowing that you have the entire book still ahead of you, waiting to be read :)

  2. For me the thrill of a new book is the content - well written prose or poetry excite me in many ways. But it doesn't stop there - I am often enticed to buy a book based on the care that has gone into the cover design, the way the pages are laid out, how the type sits on the page - oh and the smell of paper and ink, such a heady mix. As a writer and a designer, I absolutely love books.

  3. I love all books but what draws me to one is the cover art and the use of fabric for the cover.

  4. 'Scratch' goes the page as you slide your finger underneath, preparing to turn it. While you are reading, this is the only sound that matters.

  5. The cover and title entice me, then I turn to the back and get totally sucked in by the story teaser - then don't want to put it down.

  6. My favourite thing about a book is its' ability to transport me to another time and place.

  7. I love books that are easy to read and are so entertaining that you just can't put them down!

  8. I love the texture + smell of paperback novel pages. I absolutely hate cracked spines though haha - even though they're inevitable!

  9. My favourite thing about a book is the 'other' world that it takes me to. Sometimes I loathe to leave that wonderful 'other' world when it's time to put my book down and get back to my life, and there are times when that 'other' world makes me even more appreciative of how wonderful my life is.

  10. I have been called a cover whore, (oops am I allowed to say that) I like the beautiful, the quaint, the stunning, the different, the shiny, the weird, and I like my series covers to match!

  11. A brand spanking new book where one one else has creased the spine... until I do... mine, mine... all mine.
