  2. There are so many people that I'd love to invite, but none of them can provide the magic that children do at Christmas time.

The genuine joy, excitement and surprise on a child's face as they see what Santa has brought them, as they eat the lollies in their stockings and lick the bowl clean of trifle is a priceless bit of magic.

So I'd love to have three children from third world countries that have never seen the glittering image of Christmas trees and lights, never torn open a present from Santa to discover that magical man really has been watching and knows what they want for Christmas, never tasted the array of flavours and delicacies that adorn our Christmas table.

The excitement, wonder and pleasure that would emanate from them as they experience for the first time – something that many of us take for granted – is the magic that makes Christmas so special.

  3. I'd definitely invite my dearest Aunty who passed away a couple of years ago. I miss her so. Santa has to be here for sure and I'd also love to invite Oprah! She's full of wisdom, fun and laughter... and we'd all go HO HO HO!

  4. Angelina Jolie, Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal because with such lovely views at the dinner table, nobody will notice how bad my cooking actually is!

  5. I wouldn't invite lost loved ones, because I couldn't bear to say goodbye all over again at the end of the meal. Instead, I'd invite three of my heroes - the Roman emperor Augustus (although he'd probably prefer olives and bread), Jane Austen (as long as she doesn't expect dancing after dinner) and Jennifer Saunders (who will put the jokes in the crackers to shame).
